Overview

As part of Google's suite for advertisement, IMA is the offer for multimedia ads and can manage ads from any VAST-compliant ad server. Customers can easily incorporate ads to their apps and websites.

Prerequisites

• VAST compliant Ad Server
• Ad units already configured. Refer to the documentation in this link to know more about this subject on Google Ad Manager.
• For Item level the Ads should be added as extension for any playable item. Documentation about adding video advertisement in a DSP can be found here.

Adding the plugin to your Application

1.- In the plugin configuration under the section Video Advertisement you should see the plugin as follows:

Configuring the plugin

1.- For ads coming from the DSP. After adding the plugin, it is ready to function there is nothing more to do.

2.- For ads at app level. After adding the plugin to your app you should see the section “Custom Configuration Fields” on the right side of the plugin details page.

• Tag VMAP Url.  Use this field to enter a VMAP tag which will be used for every video in the app. Please use a tag containing the different types of ads to be played during video playback (Pre, mid and post rolls).

• Tag Preroll Url. Use this field to enter a VAST tag which will be called before every video in the app.

• Tag Postroll Url. Use this field to enter a VAST tag which will be called at the end of every video in the app.

• Tag Midroll Url. Use this field to enter a VAST tag which will be accordingly to the offset configured.

• Midroll Offset. Use this field to enter the offset to be used by the Midroll tag. Please keep in mind, if the offset is greater than the video runtime the ad will not play(e.g video runtime = 30 seconds and offset 35 seconds).

Important Notes

VMAP and VAST fallback

While configuring fallback tags, please only configure VMAP or VAST tags at convenience but not both. If you want to switch between approaches, make sure to clean up any previous tags before making the switch.

Fallback and DSP  

The plugin can combine both methods but ads present at DSP level will take priority over fallback, however if an item does not have ads defined the fallback configuration will be used. In this way it is ensured that every item played will display video advertisement.
