In the previous article, we saw how we can create and duplicate layouts in the App Builder.
This document explains how to Assign and configure a Layout per app version:
There are situations when you might be working on a new layout that has new plugins or a different arrangement of cells that are not supported on your older versions.
This means that if you activate these changes in your production layout, it might cause a crash in your app version that is released to the stores and in the hands of your end-users.
This can be avoided by activating and connecting your specific new layout to a specific version, without impacting all other versions.
This can also be useful when testing new features, without affecting the production version.
We will see below, how it is possible to change the name of a layout and how to assign a specific layout to a specific app version.
Changing the Name of a Layout
In order to change the name of the layout, go to ‘settings’ on the Top Bar:
You will then see the "Layout Settings" popup screen appear, in which you will be able to modify the name for the layout:
Assigning a Layout for a Specific UI Builder App version
i- Open the Zapp CMS
ii- Select your app and locate the specific App version you wish to which you wish to assign a specific Layout.
iii- Click on the "General" category from the dropdown menu of the relevant version:
iv- Scroll down to the "Active Layout" dropdown box:
v- Select from the Menu, the UI Builder Layout you wish to connect to this build:
vi- Click on the "Save" button located at the bottom of the screen.
* NOTE: It is NOT required to create a new build of your app version for the above selection to enter into effect.
