1) Enter the Google Cast SDK Developer Console
https://cast.google.com/publish/
2) Click on "Add New Application"
3) Select "Styled Media Receiver" from the Applications option in the menu.
4) Insert the Styled Receiver details:
i- Name of App
ii- Skin URL: Leave Empty
iii- Guest Mode - this is optional. More info can be found here.
iv- Google Cast for Audio - this supports casting to audio only devices and should only be selected if the content is audio only. If you are casting also Video, please DON'T Select this, as it will cause the casting to fail. More information can be found here.
Click on Save --> Now your app has been created.
You will already see the "Application ID" (which is your Chromecast App ID)
Click on Done and go back to the Main "Overview" screen from the menu.
5) Edit App -
Click on "Edit App", and fill-in all the relevant details:
i- App Name
ii- Skin URL --> Leave Empty!
iii- Select Guest Mode
iv- Only select Google Cast for Audio if it applies to you [most cases, you should NOT select it]
v- Sender Details - Select at least One OS as the "Sender Details" (this is a must)
a) If you Select Android:
You need to insert the Package / Bundle ID of your app. for example:
b) If you Select iOS:
You need to insert the:
i- iTunes ID of your app
ii- The Package / Bundle ID of your app
iii- The App Launch URI (which is the URL Scheme prefix of your App)
*Note: It's enough to select at least One of the above options to use the Chromecast ID for Both iOS and Android. You don't need to fill in the information for All platforms, for the Chromecast ID to work.
vi- Listing details ( Allow users to discover your app on Google properties such as chromecast.com/apps NOTE: Apps are only listed once they are published)
vi- Category (Select the category to which this app belongs. For example: "Media & Video")
vii- Countries (Select the countries where your app should be listed)
viii - Title and Description (This is the name that will appear on the TV Device, when casting via this App ID)
ix- Graphics (The Chromecast App Icon: 512x512 with No alpha transparency)
x- Additional Translations
---> Click on "Save" and go back to the Main Screen
6) Publish the App -
In the Main screen, Click on "Publish" to publish the app.
This may take a few minutes, depending on your internet connection.
7) Application ID -
Once the App has been published, you can will need to configure it inside the "Generic Chromecast" plugin on a Version-Level. This needs to be done on both your iOS and Android versions of the app:
Chromecast Poster -
Should you want a poster image to appear in the Chromecast Player in Mobile Device while casting, you can promote such an image by inserting a URL in the appropriate field, leading to a JPG or PNG image. The dimensions of the image need to be: 1080x1920
