We’ve added the ability to create a feed, so you could create your own "Feed of Feeds".
The main purpose for this capability is to enable creation of a feed that wasn’t provided in the Data Source; it could be a manual feed for ‘promoted shows’, or any specific promoted collection of items.
An additional scenario where you might create a feed manually, is for the screen picker component in your app.
(To learn more about the Screen Picker, click HERE.)
You can create a feed from existing feeds, existing screens or any URL.
How to create a Manual Feed?
1. Open The List of Screens in the app, by clicking on the "Screens" tab in the left-hand menu.
2. Select the desired Screen where you want to use the Manual Feed
3. Select the Relevant Component via which you want to use the Manual Feed.
* Notice that since a Component corresponds to a Specific Layout, so will the Manual Feed be relevant only for this specific Layout.
4. Make sure that the "Type" of the component is selected as "Manual" (where available) or left Empty.
5. Click on the "Source" Dropdown-Menu, and Select "Create New Feed"
The Following Dialogue Box shall open:
6. Enter the Feed Name
7. Fill in the information in the Relevant Fields:
*Notice: That you can promote Three types of Data Sources in the Manual Feed:
i- A Screen (that was already created in the "Screens" section of the UI Builder
ii- A Feed (that was already created under the "Feeds" section of the UI Builder
iii- A URL
Will be the name that appears as the Title of this Feed in the app (wether as a header or as a title in a Screen Picker). You can name it however you’d like, and that is the name that will show up in the app’s UI
Select the Feed type: Screen / Feed / URL
The Identifier will be the Screen Name / Feed Name / URL... depending on the option selected as the Feed Type. Thus, it is contextual to the type chosen. Once a Feed type is chosen, The Identifier will display a dropdown selection of all the feeds in the app. Once a screen was chosen, the identifier will display a dropdown selection of all the screens in the specific layout. And the Identifier for a URL will display a text field for the actual URL.
Feed ID -
The Screen Feed ID is required only when using a Connected Screen (which does not have an explicit feed). In the Feed ID choose the specific feed you’d like the screen to populate with.
Add as many Feeds as desired, and once done, click on "Create a Feed".
8. Thumbnail Image -
You can add a Thumbnail Image to each feed by clicking on the Upload button on the right-hand side of each feed.
The image shall usually be in a 16:9 Aspect Ratio, unless specified otherwise in the Cell Style.
Edit a Feed
After created a feed, you can always go back to it and edit it.
In order to do so, you will need to enter a Screen --> Select a component --> Select the Component Type as "Manual" and Find the relevant Manual Feed under the "Source" Drop-down menu.
Once Located, click on the Edit button located to the Right of the Manual Feed Name:
Clicking on the Editing Button, will open the same Editing Dialogue Screen of the Manual Feed, as in the creation process, where you can carry-out the desired modifications:
You can always remove the feed you have created, but then it will of course Not be available for the components or plugins.
