Ever wanted to show a friends a scene that you liked in a show you were watching? The capture a VOD moment feature allows your app users to do just that - send their friends a link to a specific point in the item they are watching.
How does this work?
The player in your application will have a record button. When a user watches a section he would like to send to his friends, he simply clicks on the record button.
When the user wishes to stop recording, all he needs to do is click the record button again.
When the recording stops, the user is presented with the ways to share the segment - via email, Facebook or Twitter.
Clicking on the Facebook option will post a link to the segment on the user's wall.
Clicking on the Email option will open an email client with the link to the segment. The user can send it to anyone he wants.
Clicking on the Twitter option will post this link as a twitt in the users Twitter account.
When the friends clicks on the link, if there is an app installed on his device, the recorded segment will play. If there is no app, the friend will be re-directed to the app stores to download the app.
If the friend has a version of the app that does not support the feature, clicking on the link will play the entire vod item.
If the segment is from a paid item, and the friend does not have access to it, clicking on the link will open the app and display the storefront. If the friend chooses to purchase the item, upon completing the purchase, the segment will be played.
Once the recorded items finishes playing, the friend can play it again, re-share or continue from last point.
