Uploading files to the CMS has 2 stages:
1. Uploading the files. This is a simple transfer of the files from your computer/server to our Amazon's S3 storage.
2. Encoding the files so they could be played on mobile devices.
1. To upload files, go to VOD -> Vod Items -> Upload. An upload window will open.
2. Click on Upload, find the items in your computer and select them.
3. The file will be uploaded to the servers. You can see the progress of the upload in the progress bar.
Once the file is uploaded, it will automatically go onto the Conversion Queue, where it will be processed and encoded to be played on mobile devices.
if you encounter issues during the upload process, this can be caused by slow connection on the computer you are using or some issue related with your browser.
The Conversion Queue
You can see the progress of the encoding in VOD -> VOD Items -> Conversion Queue.
The file will go into the conversion Queue automatically. You will receive an email notification once your file finished the encoding process.
Once the file is encoded, you will see the file in the Processed section in the Conversion Queue page. It is now ready to be turned into an item in the VOD library. Click on Enter meta data to enter the file's metadata.
Note: this page doesn't get refreshed automatically. In order to refresh it, click on the Refresh button in your browser.
Adding Metadata to the item
Clicking on Enter Meta Data will open the VOD Item Edit page. Here you can enter the data for the item.
Enter the following details:
Title: This is the name of the item, which the users will see in the application (Mandatory).
Summary: a description of the item. Will be displayed in the application if it was designed to display it.
Category: The category (Show or Season) under which the item will be in the application (Mandatory).
Click on the Search button on the right to search and find the category you want.
The rest of the fields in this part are not relevant at the moment, and are used by more advanced features.
If you have images for the items, scroll down to the Images section and upload the appropriate images to image_base.
By default, the item will not be marked as Active For Viewing. This means it will not be available in the application until you activate it. To active it, scroll down to the Tags section and select Active for viewing:
The item will also automatically be marked as NOT Free. If you want the VOD to be free select Free:
Click Create on the left side of the screen to save the item you just created.
